ON THE EVE

ON THE EVE - an apocalyptic rock event

ON THE EVE

an epic rock instAllation

ERUPTING FROM ITS BREAKOUT NYC DEBUT AT NAMT'S FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSICALS, ON THE EVE IS A MUSICAL EXPERIENCE THAT PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE SPIRIT OF CREATIVITY AND INDIVIDUALITY IN HUMANITY'S DARKEST HOURS -- A POST-MODERN WANDERLUST ROCK EVENT OF APOCALYPTIC PROPORTIONS.

In the full show, an acting troupe defies an impending armageddon by performing a sci-fi musical about Marie Antoinette's journey on a time-traveling hot-air balloon. The pugilistic director hijacks the performance, and the company fights back, struggling for survival and hope, as the real forces of tyranny bang on the doors of the space. Think of the show as The Threepenny Opera  and Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure spending a questionable night together.

On October 19, 2016, we presented a condensed concert presentation at Joe's Pub as a benefit to Theatre C. The event brought to life the piece's classically influenced indie-folk rock score in which band members and actors play for their lives, with the vibration of step-dancing as the sound of revolution.

Take a gander at a feature article about the history of the show and how we are bringing it to New York for a full production.

"You say you want a revolution? This one is worth watching."
The Dallas Morning News

"the only thing louder than the bombs [in the show] is the applause..."
D Magazine

"Beyond any easy definition of traditional American musical theater. And bully for that."
The Dallas Observer

Ju Yeon, an immigrant living in New York, has distanced herself from her Korean roots. When a sudden crisis hits her family, she must return to Korea and face the parents and the life she abandoned long ago. A dancing spirit caught between the worlds of tradition and modernity guides us through past and present, propelling the family members to their ultimate fates.

“DisOriented's long-distance and generational conflicts are universal...”
-Patricia Contino, Editor's Pick FlavorPill

“The cast carries the weighty story valiantly and the chemistry between the characters is strong...Virginia] Wing...brilliantly embodies a traditional Korean mother who is bewildered by the ways of the modern world. There is a strong sense of momentum to this production that is the direct result of...clever directorial and design choices.” -Weston Clay, Theatre is Easy

“Park throws a welcome spotlight on this little-considered aspect of American immigrant life. Yanghee (Kyungja) Lee ... is a most welcome presence. Twirling in red and gold, snapping her red fan, she is a touch of warm color in a cold, cruel world.” -Karl Levett, BackStage

MADAME INFAMY

PRESENTED BY THEATRE C AT THE NEW YORK MUSICAL THEATER FESTIVAL

In the latter half of the 18th century, America stood firmly on the backs of its slaves while Paris burned as its poorest citizens revolted against the aristocracy. Two worlds united by one electrifying score, Madame Infamy is the dark and moving tale of Marie Antoinette, last Queen of France, and Sally Hemings, slave and mistress of President Thomas Jefferson. Fighting hardship, scandal, and loss, each must find the strength to combat a nation in hopes of protecting the ones she loves.
